Mike Sullivan

Mike joins the Illinois College Women’s Flag Football program as Offensive Coordinator for its inaugural 2026 season, bringing more than 29 years of quarterback coaching experience to the Blueboys and Lady Blues athletic community. A 1990 graduate of Illinois College, he returns to his Alma mater with deep program roots, having been a football teammate of Head Coach Mark Grounds during their playing days.

Mike later reunited with Coach Grounds at Jacksonville High School, where he serves as the quarterbacks coach and plays an integral role in designing, installing, and operating the offensive system. His work developing quarterbacks and helping shape the overall offensive approach contributed to the program’s reputation for discipline, efficient, and high performing offensive play.

Widely respected as a developer of athletes, Mike has built his coaching career on strong fundamentals, detailed instruction, and a player centered teaching style that elevates performance on the field. His extensive background with quarterbacks provides a strong foundation as Illinois College builds its first ever women’s flag football offense.

Mike is married to Julie, also an Illinois College alum. They have two daughters, Tara and Shealyn, both of whom competed in NCAA Division I soccer. His return to Illinois College marks a meaningful homecoming and an opportunity to help establish and shape a new era of women’s athletics on campus.
