James Keck is entering his second year as Assistant Sports Information Director at Illinois College. Keck is a graduate from Benedictine University in 2024 where he received a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in sports management.
During Keck’s four years at Benedictine, he competed on the men’s golf team and was a two-time Academic All-American. Along with golf, Keck was a member of the men’s basketball staff,
serving as a manager where he was responsible for assisting with the daily operation of the program.
Along with his golf and basketball experience, Keck was a student assistant in the Sports Information Office working with social media, play-by-play broadcast, PA announcing, scoreboard operations, and statistics. Keck was also the editor-in-chief of Benedictine’s school newspaper, The Candor, and was responsible for weekly releases for news, sports, and different features and made sure the release was consistent every week.
Keck also has a strong passion for public address announcing as this past summer he was the in-stadium DJ and PA announcer for the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp. He has also announced two super-sectional boys’ basketball games on the campus of Northern Illinois and continues to look for more opportunities in PA announcing.
Originally from DeKalb, Illinois, Keck has moved to Jacksonville to begin a career in college athletics and looks forward to learning more about the field and gaining valuable experience.
