Anthony Flores

The 2025-26 athletic year will be the third for Anthony Flores as the Head Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country, as well as his fifth as Assistant Coach for Track and Field at Illinois College. Flores's coaching primarily focuses on throws and distance, leveraging his extensive background as both a former athlete and coach.

Flores is coming off a milestone season for IC as he helped the women’s track and field program to Midwest Conference championships in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He was part of a staff that was named the league’s Coaching Staff of the Year at both meets.

Before embarking on his coaching career, Flores had a successful collegiate athletic career. He was a four-year member of the Illinois College Track and Field team, during which he developed a strong expertise in throwing events. Flores was a 5-time All-Conference Athlete, 1-time National Qualifier (Weight Throw) [Awarded All-American Honors due to Covid-19 Cancellation], and currently holds Illinois College's Indoor Weight Throw record as well as the Hammer Throw record. Flores also earned Illinois College's Male Athlete of the Year, Downer Award in 2020. His prowess as an athlete led him to further his throwing career at the Division I level in his home state with California State University at Long Beach, where he completed his eligibility while earning his Master's Degree in Sports Management.

Flores joined the Illinois College coaching staff in 2022 as a part-time assistant coach, focusing on throws. His coaching philosophy emphasizes not only athletic performance but also the holistic development of his athletes, aiming to instill discipline, resilience, and a passion for lifelong fitness.

Overall, Flores's blend of athletic experience, academic dedication, and coaching acumen makes him a valuable asset to Illinois College's athletic department.
