Shanna Thompson begins her second season as an assistant women's basketball coach with the Lady Blues in 2020-21.
Thompson was a four-year player at NCAA Division II institution Gannon University, making two trips to the Sweet 16 or beyond at the national tournament. She has spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III program Bluffton University in Ohio.
After graduating from Gannon in 2011 with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Thompson began her coaching career at Central Technical High School in Erie, Pa. She then returned home to the Cleveland area and was the assistant girls’ basketball coach at Shaker Heights High School from 2012-15, also competing for the Cleveland Crush semi-professional basketball team during that time.
Thompson entered the college coaching world in the 2015-16 season as an assistant women’s coach at Baldwin-Wallace College. The Yellow Jackets won 17 games that season and advanced to the tournament championship game of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Moving to Bluffton prior to the 2016-17 season, she was a part of two 20-win teams in the past three years, twice advancing to the semifinals of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament.
Thompson recently completed her MBA with a Leadership Concentration from Bluffton in 2019.
