Kiwi Moran is in her second season as a member of the Lady Blues coaching staff.
Moran's first season on the Hilltop was a milestone campaign as the Lady Blues finished with 25 victories, including a 13-3 slate in Midwest Conference play. The 25 wins tied the school record for victories in a season, and the team set six single-season school team records (walks – 179, stolen bases - 78, on-base percentage - .412, hits – 349, RBI – 194, and fielding percentage - .967).
Individually, pitcher Jordan Closs posted a scoreless innings streak of 55 2/3, which ranks eighth all-time in NCAA Division III history and was the longest since 2011. She was first-team All-Region 9 by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and was joined on the all-region team by Taylor Henry. Closs was also the Midwest Conference Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year and was first-team all-conference. Henry, Kendall Cole, and Brooke Loveall were also on the first team. Shelby Seiler was on the second team. Mendez, along with assistant coaches Kiwi Moran and Payton Cloe, were named the Midwest Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.
Moran came to IC with a bevy of coaching experience. For the past three years, she has served as an assistant coach with the Chicago Cheetahs, an organization based in Bensenville, Ill., as well as serving as the Camp Director for both Let’s Play 4 U, Illinois, and College Sports Evaluations in Denver.
Along with her softball coaching experience, Moran has also served as a First Year Resident Assistant at her alma mater, DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. and was the General Manager of the school’s television station, D3TV.
Moran was a four-year letter winner for the Tigers and helped the team a third place finish at the NCAA Division III national tournament in 2021. A member of the NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete team, Moran won the team’s Most Heart Award in 2022 and was awarded the Most Tiger Pride by both the softball program and the athletic department in 2024.
A native of New Lenox, Ill., Moran graduated from DePauw with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Media Studies.
