Kayla Morrissey begins her second season as the assistant coach of the Lady Blues women's basketball program and second season as the assistant coach of the Lady Blues softball team in 2022-23. 

Morrissey attended Grinnell College during her undergraduate studies where she received a bachelor of arts in general science with concentrations in biology and statistics. She was also a standout member of the basketball and softball programs earning Academic All-Conference, NFCA Scholar Athlete, and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. For basketball, she currently ranks third in Grinnell history for points and 3-point percentage and is in the top 10 in Grinnell history in 12 different statistical categories. For softball, Morrissey earned MWC Player of the Year in 2017 and holds the MWC record for hits in a career. 

After attending Grinnell College, Morrissey spent a year in Ireland playing basketball professionally for the NUIG Mystics, coaching youth, and working towards her master's in exercise physiology at the National University of Ireland, Galway.  

Morrissey comes to Illinois College after being the graduate assistant women's basketball coach at North Central College. There she received her master's of business administration in 2021. During her time at North Central, Morrissey was also the head girl's AAU coach for the Flow Basketball Academy.
