Mike Worrell

Mike Worrell enters his 22nd season as head men’s basketball coach at Illinois College in 2017-18.

Worrell got his start in coaching at Urbana University, his alma mater. He coached at The College of Wooster and Ashland University before coming to Illinois College.

Worrell led Illinois College’s men’s basketball team to its first-ever Midwest Conference championship and NCAA Division III tournament appearance in 2002-2003, and has twice been named the Midwest Conference’s Coach of the Year. Worrell is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, is currently the chair of the MWC men’s basketball coaches, serves on the NABC All-American Committee, and has directed boys’ basketball camps for 24 years.

In the 2016-17 season, Worrell picked up his 200th career coaching win at Illinois College.

Worrell and his wife, Stacey, reside in Jacksonville with their children: Alexandra, Sara and Lucas.
