The 2026-27 season will be the first for John Meyer as a member of the Blueboys basketball coaching staff.

Meyer arrived on the Hilltop after two seasons on the staff at Spring Hill College, where he served as an assistant coach. His duties with the Badgers included preparing comprehensive scouting reports, analyzing offensive sets, defensive strategies, and player personnel for opponent preparation. Conducting player development sessions, simulated in-game scenarios to reinforce offensive schemes, recruiting and programmatic marketing.

Prior to his time at Spring Hill, Meyer worked at the 212 Academy, where he served as lead assistant coach of the national team from 2023-24. In his time there, he helped lead the team to a runner-up finish in the state tournament and a 24-9 overall record. He also developed 18 players who would go on to play college basketball.

Meyer also served as head coach of the Sarasota Lions professional basketball team during the 2023-24 season. Under his direction, the Lions achieved a perfect record, while two of his players earned the league’s Most Valuable Player and Most Improved Player awards. Three of his Lions players were recruited by professional teams in China, Armenia, and Canada. One of those currently plays in the ABA.

Before his time with 212 Academy and the Sarasota Lions, Meyer served as a student assistant at DePauw University from 2022-23.

Meyer’s coaching career began in 2021, when he became a volunteer assistant coach at Chaminade College Prep in St. Louis.

Meyer holds a Communications Degree from DePauw University.
