Michael Tesch begins his second season as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for the Blueboys in 2020.

The 2019 season was a great one for the Illinois College offense. Four members of the team earned All-MWC honors, including running back Trevor Smalls, the MWC South Division Newcomer of the Year. The Blueboys ended the season ranked second in the conference in scoring offense (32.4 ppg) and third in total offense (363.0 ypg). On an individual level, Smalls led the MWC in touchdowns with 14 on the season and quarterback Drew Chance was the top-ranked passer in the conference.

A native of Voorheesville, N.Y., Tesch attended Hudson Valley Community College coming out of high school and was a team captain of the football team in his second season there. He went on to attain his Bachelor’s degree from The College of St. Rose in Albany, N.Y. and began his coaching career at Hudson Valley at the same time. Beginning with the 2013 season, Tesch was the Wide Receivers Coach for two seasons before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for the 2015 and 2016 campaigns.

In 2017, Tesch accepted a position as Wide Receivers Coach and Academic Coordinator at the University of Charlestion, an NCAA Division II program in West Virginia. During his one season there, he also completed a Master’s degree in Special Education from Niagara University.

In 2018, Tesch went back to his home state and worked as the position coach for quarterbacks, tight ends and wide receivers as well as being the offensive coordinator for ASA College in Brooklyn, N.Y. In his season with the Avengers, the team averaged 37.8 points per game, 470.8 yards per game to rank third nationally at the NJCAA level, and a 19:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio. ASA College set school records this past season for total yards per game and rushing yards per game (255.3).
