John Heafner enters his 12th season as an assistant football coach at Illinois College. Heafner works primarily with the secondary.

Heafner earned his bachelor’s degree from Blackburn College in 1997 and his master’s degree from Quincy University in 2007. He currently serves as a school counselor at Pikeland Schools.

Prior to coaching at Illinois College, Heafner served as the defensive coordinator at Pittsfield High School and Round Valley High School in Springerville, Arizona.

Heafner and his wife, Kristi, reside in Pittsfield with their two children: Jack and Jaynee.
