John Heafner enters his fifth season as an assistant football coach at Illinois College. Heafner works primarily with defensive backs.

Heafner earned his bachelor’s degree from Blackburn College in 1997 and his master’s degree from Quincy University in 2007. He currently serves as the guidance counselor at Virginia High School.

Prior to coaching at Illinois College, Heafner served as the defensive coordinator at Pittsfield High School and Round Valley High School in Springerville, Arizona.

Heafner and his wife, Kristi, reside in Pittsfield with their three children: Ashlee, Jack and Jaynee.
