E.J. Henderson begins his first season on the Illinois College coaching staff in 2021 as the wide receiver’s coach.
Henderson is originally from Brookhaven, MS where he was a dual sport athlete (football/baseball). After graduation in 2011 he went on to play football on a full athletic scholarship at Alabama State University and learned under head coach and former NFL wide receiver Reggie Barlow. Henderson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in December 2015 and immediately got into coaching.
In 2016 he began his first full time coaching position at his alma mater Brookhaven High School. Henderson served as the Wide Receiver’s Coach and the head middle school baseball coach. After a year, he became the Wide Receiver’s Coach and Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Lee High School in Montgomery, Al under head coach and former NFL defensive end Tyrone Rogers. He maintained that position at Lee High School from 2017-2019. In 2019, the football team came up one game short of a 7A Title game, losing in the final seconds to then #1 Central-Phenix City Red Devils in the semi-final game.
In 2019 Henderson was honored to get a chance to again coach at my alma mater Brookhaven High School under Tucker Peavey, this time serving as the Secondary Coach. He was a starter for Peavey from 2008-2011 and played in the state championship game in 2010. Henderson was the varsity Infield/Outfield Coach and middle school Head Baseball coach from 2019-2021.
