Former Blueboy standout Drew Chance is in his second season as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach for the Blueboys in 2024.
In Chance's initial season, the Blueboys achieved remarkable success, securing their first Midwest Conference championship in school history and reaching the NCAA Division III Playoffs. Illinois College boasted the second-ranked offense in the nation, averaging 559 yards and 47.5 points per game, while also setting Midwest Conference records for both points and yards in a season. Additionally, the Blueboys led the nation in passing offense, averaging 384 yards per game. Numerous players received accolades, including Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year, a pair of AFCA All-American selections, two All-Region performers, and six all-conference awards.
Chance mentored the nation’s leading passer and receiver. Destin Chance, an AFCA All-American and MWC Offensive MVP, set Midwest Conference records with 4,036 passing yards and 48 passing touchdowns. Meanwhile, Collin Brunstein, who also earned AFCA All-American honors, set NCAA records with 2,200 receiving yards and 31 receiving touchdowns.
Before joining IC, Chance began his coaching career at West Virginia State University, serving as the Pass Game Coordinator while coaching the quarterback and tight end position groups. During his tenure, Chance mentored MEC All-Conference Quarterback and HBCU National Player of the Week, Donovan Riddick.
Chance played quarterback for the Blueboys, leading the Midwest Conference in total offense during the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons. He ranks 3rd all-time in IC history in passing yards, completions, and total touchdowns.Â
Originally from Auburn, Illinois, Chance quarterbacked Auburn High School to its first state championship appearance in 2015.
Drew graduated from Illinois College in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Sports Management and earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Studies from West Virginia State University in 2022.
