Blueboys Open the Season with Convincing Victory

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Illinois College football team solidly opened the 2026 season with a convincing 28-13 victory over Elmhurst on Saturday at Langhorst Field.

The victory was IC's fifth straight season-opening victory.

The Blueboys rolled to the game's first 28 points and never looked back.

IC opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run by Skyler Young with 7:22 left in the opening quarter to make it 7-0. The IC defense took over for the rest of the half, shutting down the Blue Jays as the Blueboys took a 7-0 lead into intermission.

The third quarter saw IC get on the board three times in a variety of ways. 

Dylan Beadle swiped an Elmhurst pass and took it 20 yards for a touchdown with just under a minute gone in the quarter. Young then crashed in for the second time of the day from five yards out just under four minutes later.  IC's Trevor Patton closed out the IC scoring on the day with a two-yard touchdown run with 3:12 to play in the third.

Young paced the offensive attack as he rushed for 58 yards on 17 carries. Zechariah Wease latched on to a pair of passes for 28 yards while Cole Stuart (19 yards) and Zac Laird (14 yards) also caught two passes. Tyson Elliott was 10-for-17 for 73 yards from his quarterback spot.

The defense was led by Blaze Helton's seven tackles (five solos) while Beadle, Maurice Evans, and Aidan Yung collected five stops apiece.
