DECORAH/DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Illinois College women's tennis team split a pair of duals in Iowa on Saturday.
The Lady Blues dropped the Midwest Conference opener to league newcomer Luther, 5-2, at Luther's Tennis Venue.
IC returned to action on Saturday afternoon and rolled to a 6-1 win at Loras' Tucker Tennis Courts.
IC is now 2-2 overall and 0-1 in Midwest Conference play.
Luther 5 IC 2
The Norse took command early in the match, sweeping all three doubles contests to grab the opening point.
Singles play was tightly contested as three of the six matches went to tie-breakers. The Lady Blues'
Sophie Muir posted a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 4 while
Morgan Keefe won at No. 6 in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
Clara Bach (No. 2) and
Campbell Hayes (No. 3) dropped their matches in tie-breakers.
IC 6 Loras 1
The Duhawks took two of the three doubles matches to jump out to an early 1-0. The Lady Blues lone victory came at No. 2 as Hayes and Muir were 6-3 winners.
IC turned the tables in singles, sweeping all six contests to claim the win. Bach (No. 2), Hayes (No. 3), Muir (No. 4), and Keefe (No. 6) all won in straight sets.
Alyssa Wise (No. 1) and
Madison Eastin (No. 5) were victorious in tie-breakers.

The Lady Blues will be on the road again on Wednesday when they travel to Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville. The first serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
