SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois College closed the books on another successful Athletics Golf Classic as the 9th annual edition took place on Friday at the Rail Golf Course. The event featured the largest turnout in its history as over 180 golfers took to the links in support of the Blueboys and Lady Blues.
With a record number of participants and the generosity of 18 sponsors, the athletic department raised funds to support various athletic teams and student-athletes on the Hilltop.
Again this year, prizes and giveaways were awarded to golfers based on the various competitions held throughout the course, including longest drive, closest to the pin, longest putt made, 50/50 raffles, and skins games.
Once again, this year, there were two playing sessions (one in the morning and the other in the afternoon). Morning participants received breakfast prepared by the IC football coaching staff. Both sessions enjoyed lunch provided by Twyfords BBQ while the afternoon groups were treated to a dinner provided by the Rail Golf Course.
The generosity of the following sponsors helped ensure an enjoyable experience for every participant, and the IC Athletics Department would like to publicly thank them for their support.
