JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men's tennis team posted a gritty 4-3 win over Southwest Illinois College in a non-conference match on Wednesday at the Bellatti Tennis Complex.
IC is now 9-6 overall.

The match was tightly contested throughout, and that started immediately with doubles play. The Blueboys were able to get victories from
Jeff Wernsing and
Adi Basic at No. 1 (6-2) and
Tejas Zala and
Andrus Dupre at No. 3 (6-4) to secure the important doubles point.
IC and SWIC would split the six singles matches, and three of the six went to tie-breakers. The Blueboys got wins from Wernsing at No. 2 by a 7-5, 6-3 score. Zala won at No. 3 with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 victory. IC's final singles win came at No. 6, where
Grayson Dupre posted a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory to secure the match for the Blueboys.

The Blueboys travel to Iowa for a pair of Midwest Conference duals on Saturday. IC will open the day at Grinnell with a 9:00 a.m. start and then face Cornell in Mt. Vernon at 3:00 p.m.
