KAUKAUNA, Wis. - The Illinois College baseball team dropped the opener of Friday's doubleheader against Lawrence before rain forced the suspension of game two in the top of the fifth inning at Kaukauna High School.Â
Illinois College now moves to 11-11 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while Lawrence improves to 6-15Â (2-2).

Illinois College struck first in the second inning, as Logan Fleener delivered an RBI single to bring home Ketch Mills and give the Blueboys a 1-0 lead.
Lawrence answered in the third, taking advantage of an error to plate a run and even the score at 1-1.
The Blueboys regained the lead in the fourth inning when Mills launched a solo home run to left field, putting Illinois College back in front, 2-1.
Starting pitcher Dawson Vernier kept Lawrence in check through five innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out five.
The game turned in the sixth, as Lawrence capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to score three runs and take a 4-2 lead.
Lawrence added insurance in the eighth inning, stringing together a double and a two-run single to extend the lead to 7-2.
The Blueboys finished with six hits on the afternoon. Mills led the way with two hits, including a home run, while Barker also recorded two hits. Fleener drove in a run, and Nolan Decker added a double.
On the mound, Vernier tossed five innings, allowing four runs (one earned) while striking out five. Wade Sabo worked three innings in relief, striking out five.
Game two was suspended in the top of the fifth inning due to rain as the Blueboys led the contest 11-4.Â
