Lady Blues Set Wins Record in Sweep of Knox

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College softball team celebrated Senior Day by becoming the winningest team in program history with a sweep of Knox in the final home regular season appearance of the season on Saturday at Jessica Kamp Field.

The Lady Blues took the opener, 10-0 in five innings, and then posted an 8-0, six-inning victory in the nightcap.

IC is now 26-10 overall and 11-1 in conference play. Knox is 8-24 and 2-8. The 26 wins are the most in a single season in IC softball history.

Game 1: IC 10 Knox 0 (5 innings)
IC took an early 1-0 despite leaving the bases full in the first two frames. IC's initial run came when Maddie Adams scored on a wild pitch.

The Lady Blues put the contest away with a seven-spot in the third inning. Parker Wooderson scored when Ezzy Mauermann walked with the bases loaded. Raegan Rezba was then hit by a pitch with the bases still loaded. Adams provided the big blow with a three-run, bases-clearing double. Gabby Miller scored on a double steal, and Brooke Loveall closed out the inning with an RBI triple.

IC got a little cushion with two runs in the fourth as Mauermann scored on a passed ball and Adams had an RBI single.

In the circle, Jordan Closs cruised to her 13th victory, scattering three hits and recording nine strikeouts in her five innings of work.

The offense was keyed by Adams, who had a pair of hits and four RBI. Loveall and Rezba also had two hits apiece.

Game 2: IC 8 Knox 0 (6 innings)
The Lady Blues jumped out early and never looked back.

IC scored four times in the first inning, Alivia Darbe drilled a two-run double, Kendall Cole then stroked an RBI single, and Bella Thein did the same.

Megan Doolittle and Shelby Seiler drove in runs with sacrifice flies in the second and third innings, respectively, before Mauermann had an RBI single to make it 7-0 in the fourth.

The Lady Blues closed out the win in the sixth when Adams stroked an RBI single up the middle to make it 8-0.
