JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men's tennis squad punched its ticket to the Midwest Conference postseason tournament with a pair of league victories on Saturday at the Bellatti Tennis Complex.
The Blueboys stopped Ripon, 6-1, in the morning match and returned in the afternoon to post a 5-2 win over Lawrence. With the two wins, IC qualifies for the annual MWC Tournament, which will be held April 24-25 in Madison, Wisconsin.
IC is now 12-8 overall and 3-3 in MWC action.

IC took an early lead by sweeping the doubles matches.
Jeff Wernsing and
Adi Basic were 6-4 winners at No. 1.
Glenn Conway and
Dalton Short posted a shutout at No. 2, while
Tejas Zala and
Andrus Dupre recorded a 6-2 win at No. 3.
The Blueboys cruised to victory in five of the six singles matches. Wernsing (No. 2), Zala (No. 3), Conway (No. 4), and
Andrus Dupre (No. 5) were all winners by the same 6-0, 6-0 score.
Grayson Dupre posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6.
IC 5 Lawrence 2
The doubles duos of Conway and Short (No. 2) and Zala and
Andrus Dupre (No. 3) posted 7-6 (7-3) and 6-1 victories, respectively, to give IC the early 1-0 lead.
IC then posted four singles victories to clinch the dual and secure a trip to Madison at the end of the month.
Wernsing was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 2 while Zala cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3. Conway posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4, and
Andrus Dupre's 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 win at No. 5 sent IC to victory.
Blue Notes
This is the second consecutive season and the second time in program history that IC has qualified for the MWC Tournament.
