JACKSONVILLE, Ill - The Illinois College esports team earned a 2-0 victory over St. Ambrose University in National Esports Collegiate Conference competition in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on March 10.
Illinois College controlled the match from start to finish, winning both games 5-0 in a dominant team performance against a conference rival.
In Game 1, Adam Byrd opened with four stocks, followed by Julian Lorekeeper Luaders taking four more. Jake Petrovich closed out the game by securing the final four stocks while losing just one.
Game 2 featured another strong showing from Byrd, who took six stocks across multiple opponents. Alex Rhoades helped start the sequence by taking two stocks before Byrd finished the remaining stock and continued the run.
The sweep secured a convincing win for Illinois College in NECC play.
