Esports Falls in Pair of NECC Conference Matchups

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College esports team competed in two NECC conference match ups on Tuesday evening, falling to Buena Vista University in MVEC Overwatch action and Dunwoody College of Technology in Rocket League play.

Overwatch - Buena Vista 3 Illinois College 0

Illinois College was swept 0–3 by Buena Vista University in Overwatch. The Blues dropped Game 1 (0–2) on Control at Nepal, fell 1–2 on Hybrid at King's Row, and closed the series with a 0–1 loss on Escort at Route 66. While IC remained competitive throughout the match, Buena Vista's team coordination proved decisive in the conference matchup.

Rocket League - Dunwoody 4 Illinois College 2 

Later in the night, Illinois College fell 4–2 to Dunwoody College of Technology in NECC Rocket League action. Technical issues forced Alex Rhoades into the lineup for Game 1, where he scored a goal in his Rocket League debut. Once Dwight Duijneveld joined the roster, IC earned wins in Games 3 and 5, but defensive lapses across the six-game series allowed Dunwoody to secure the conference victory.
