ELSAH, Ill. –  The Illinois College men's tennis team got the 2026 portion of the season off to a historic start, beating Principia for the first time in program history on Tuesday at the Hexberg Indoor Tennis Center.
The Blueboys topped the Panthers, 4-3.
The win improved IC to 5-1 on the season, while Principia is now 1-3.

The Blueboys opened the dual by winning two of the three doubles matches to earn the point that would prove to be the difference in the contest. IC got wins from
Jeff Wernsing and
Adi Basic at No. 1 and
Ryne Breyer and
Tejas Zala at No. 3 to secure the 1-0 lead.
The two teams then split the six singles matches to give IC the victory.
The Blueboys had victories at No. 4 from
Glenn Conway, No. 5 from
Andrus Dupre, and No. 6 from
Grayson Dupre.

The Blueboys will face Avila on Friday in Jacksonville. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
