Lawrence Uses First-Half Run to Top Lady Blues

APPLETON, Wis. – Illinois College dropped a 76-61 decision to Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon in a Midwest Conference matchup at Alexander Gym.

With the loss, the Lady Blues move to 10-13 overall and 6-8 in conference play, while Lawrence improves to 18-5 on the season and 11-3 in the MWC.

Lawrence set the tone early, building a 19-10 lead after the first quarter. The Vikings extended their advantage in the second period, using a late three-pointer to take a 40-22 lead into halftime.

Illinois College showed more rhythm offensively coming out of the break. The Lady Blues shot 50 percent from the field in the third quarter and scored 21 points in the period, but Lawrence answered with 26 points of its own to maintain control at 66-43 heading into the final frame.

The Lady Blues continued to battle in the fourth, holding Lawrence to just 10 points and knocking down four three-pointers in the quarter. Illinois College trimmed the deficit down the stretch but could not fully recover from the early gap.

Jayln Patterson led Illinois College with 13 points and eight rebounds, adding three steals and two blocks. McKenna Christiansen provided a spark off the bench with a team-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including four three-pointers. Cora DeSutter added eight points and a team-best nine rebounds.

Illinois College finished the game shooting 36.8 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from three-point range, while Lawrence shot 37.0 percent overall and connected on eight three-pointers. Kate Adams paced the Vikings with a game-high 25 points.

Blue Notes
Raegen Stringer now has 99 assists this season, moving her into a tie for eighth on the program's single-season assists list and surpassing the 98 she recorded a year ago.
