JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Illinois College dropped its NECC Rocket League matchup to Saint Ambrose on Tuesday night, falling 4-1 in the best-of-five series.
IC opened the night with a 4-1 loss in Game 1 but answered with a strong 2-0 shutout victory in Game 2 to even the match. The final three games were tightly contested, but the Blueboys came up just short, falling 2-1 in Game 3 and suffering back-to-back 1-0 losses in Games 4 and 5.
Offense proved to be the difference in the series. Illinois College struggled to generate consistent pressure and capitalize on scoring chances. While the team put shots on net, sustained attacking momentum was hard to maintain.
Defensively, however, there were clear positives. After defense was a concern last semester, the addition of Loegon Pete has helped steady the back line and limit opponents' opportunities. The challenge now is turning that improved defense into more consistent offense.
