Blueboys Cruise Past Millikin, Philpott Wins 50th

Box Score DECATUR, Ill. – The Illinois College men's soccer team used a big first half to cruise to a 4-0 win over Millikin on Wednesday night at Frank M. Lindsay Field.

The win was the 50th at the college level for IC Head Coach Evan Philpott and moved the Blueboys to 1-0-1.

IC exploded for all four of its goals in the opening 45 minutes to put the match away. 

Oscar Liogon Arenas got the first score of the night just 3:19 into the match off an assist from J'aiden Cranwell-Meneses. Tyler Lunning then tallied just over five minutes later off an assist from Liogon Arenas. 

The Lunning-Liogon Arenas hooked up again at the 36:37 mark to give IC a 3-0 lead, but this time the roles were reversed as Liogon Arenas recorded his second goal of the evening and Lunning got his first assist of the season.

The Blueboys closed out the first half by scoring at the 41:18 mark when Jason Hernandez found the back of the net as Liogon Arenas recorded his second assist of the half.

Liogon Arenas paced the IC offense with five shots on the night as the Blueboys outshot the Big Blue, 13-11.

IC's Daniel Happach recorded the shutout in goal and posted eight saves in the contest.

The start of the contest was delayed by severe weather in the Decatur area.
