Blueboys Roll in MWC Opener

Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory over Ripon in the Midwest Conference season-opening match on Saturday afternoon at England Stadium.

IC improved to 6-1-2 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play, while Ripon dropped to 5-3-1, 0-1-0.

The Blueboys scored the opening goal of the contest when Jason Hernandez found the net on a pass from Oscar Liogon Arenas at the 20:55 mark. 

IC would take that 1-0 advantage into halftime.

The second period was all IC as the Blueboys exploded for four goals. Tyler Lunning started the goal parade with his header in front of the net at the 46:41 mark before Liogon Arenas scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season at 51:56.

Kevin Cruz made it 4-0 at the 65:35 mark off an assist from J'aiden Cranwell-Meneses. Elijah Bunda closed out the scoring for the day when he recorded his second goal of the year at 77:41.

IC was on the offense all day, outshooting Ripon 21-5. Liogon Arenas led a balanced offense with four shots. Six different Blueboys recorded a pair of shots.

TJ Esseily went the distance in goal for the Blueboys, recording two saves on the day.

IC is 5-0-1 in its last six matches…  over the past three seasons, the Blueboys are now 13-2-2 in Midwest Conference action.
