KENOSHA, Wis. – The Illinois College softball team ended its run at the Midwest Conference Tournament, dropping an 8-6 decision to Grinnell on Saturday morning at Wiers Family Stadium.
IC finishes its season with a 25-18 record.Â

The Lady Blues broke out to an early lead in the second inning when
Elysia Hand drilled a triple that scored
Kendall Cole who opened the inning with a double. Hand would then steal home to put IC up 2-0.
The Pioneers chipped away with a run in the second. Hand then gave IC a bigger lead in the fifth inning when she smacked another triple, this time with the bases loaded, to put the Lady Blues up 5-1.
Grinnell came back with a four-spot in its half of the fifth to tie the contest at five but the Lady Blues quickly answered as
Ezzy Mauermann scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth. The Pioneers erased that lead and scored the eventual game-winning runs with three in the bottom of the sixth.
Hand was the offensive star for IC, driving in four with her two triples.
Brooke Loveall also had two hits for IC.
Jordan Closs started and pitched the first four innings for IC. She allowed a run on six hits and recorded three strikeouts. Â
Avery Fritz finished the contest for the Lady Blues, working the final two innings and suffering the loss.
