Blueboys Capture McNaughton Memorial Behind James' Record-Tying Round

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Senior Jarrett James matched his school record for lowest score versus par at Jacksonville Country Club, leading Illinois College to a dominant win at the McNaughton Memorial on Monday afternoon.

The Chester, Illinois native fired a 67 (-5), winning the tournament by five strokes. James came out hot, birdieing the first hole and making eagle on the second. He made the turn at 34 and added another eagle on the par-5 12th to finish the back nine with a 33.

Myles Kampwerth also turned in a strong performance, posting an even-par 72. Teddy Walbaum bounced back from a slow start to card a 74 (+2), and Tobin Nell added a 76 (+4) to round out the team's scoring. Dylan Clark contributed a 78 (+6) as the fifth score for the A team.

The Blueboys finished with a team total of 289 (+1), cruising to a 26-shot victory.

The Illinois College B team secured second place with a total score of 315. Cole Bartels led the way with a 78 (+6), while Isaac Anderson, Caden Tinsley, and AJ Odle each shot 79 (+7). Emmitt Brokaw rounded out the scoring with an 82 (+10).

The C team took fourth, paced by Bryce Knackstedt, who finished fifth individually after shooting 78 (+6). Bryson Hall and Ian Otto each carded an 84, and Devin Brown added an 86 for a team total of 332.

Blackburn College finished third with a 325, and Eureka rounded out the field in fifth place with a score of 416.
