JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Millikin used a late rally in game two to post a sweep of Illinois College on Saturday at Jessica Kamp Field.
Millikin took the first game 7-2 and rallied in the seventh inning to take game two, 6-4.
The Lady Blues are now 9-11 overall, while Millikin moved to 12-8.
Game 1: MU 7 IC 2
IC couldn't muster much against Millikin's Kelsey Bruno, recording only one hit, a triple by
Elysia Hand in the second inning) before the seventh inning. In the final frame, the Lady Blues scored twice off a triple by
Cambria Currie, who drove in
Delaney Melton, and a single by
Halie Williams that plated Currie.
Jordan Closs suffered the loss for IC, allowing all seven runs on eight hits with four strikeouts in her 6 2/3 innings of work.
Game 2: MU 6 IC 4
The Lady Blues led 4-2 going into the seventh inning but the Big Blue was able to plate four runs and then held on for the victory.
IC jumped ahead with three runs in the second inning. Melton, Currie, and
Brooke Loveall all had an RBI in the frame.Â
After Millikin scored a solo run in the fourth, IC answered when
Raegan Rezba scored on an error.
That lead stood until the seventh when the Big Blue rallied for the victory.
Currie and Rezba each had two hits for IC.
Taylor Henry suffered the loss in the circle, allowing five runs in her 6 1/3 innings of work.

The Lady Blues return to Jessica Kamp Field on Saturday when they host Lawrence to open the Midwest Conference portion of the 2025 season. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 1:00 p.m.
