JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College put on an offensive showcase in their doubleheader against Eureka, taking both games at Joe Brooks Field in convincing fashion. The Blueboys exploded at the plate while their pitching staff kept the Red Devils in check, securing a commanding sweep.
Game 1: IC 14 Eureka 3
The Blueboys wasted no time setting the tone in the first game, scoring a run in the opening inning before breaking things open with an 11-run fourth inning.
Louie Bartletti led the charge with a home run and four RBIs, while the Blueboys' offense collectively recorded 11 hits and drew six walks. On the mound, Illinois College's pitching staff limited Eureka to three runs on six hits, striking out nine along the way.
Adam Passmore continued off of his strong start going 2-3 in game one with a double and two walks.
Tyler Barker and
Logan Fleener both recorded two hits.
Game 2: IC 13 Eureka 4
Illinois College took control of game two right from the start, jumping out to a 10-1 lead in the first inning and never looking back. Eureka's defensive struggles proved costly, as four errors gave the Blueboys extra opportunities to extend their lead.
Illinois College's offense stayed aggressive, collecting 11 hits and drawing six walks. Mike Dunne led Eureka at the plate with three hits, but the Red Devils struggled to keep pace with the Blueboys' relentless attack.
Louie Bartletti added another three hit game with a pair of RBI's and a double.
Tyler Barker continued his success from game one with a three hit game driving in three runs as well.
Adam Passmore went 2-3 once again for IC scoring three times.
On the mound, Illinois College's pitchers kept Eureka in check, allowing just seven hits while striking out four to secure the sweep.
