GRINNELL, Iowa – The Illinois College football program has landed 12 players on the All-Midwest Conference postseason teams, it was announced by the league today.
The Blueboys had four players named to the first team on defense, led by linebackers
Cam Dailey and
Drake Stuart. They were joined on the squad by end
Blaze Helton and back
Malik Byndom. Both Dailey and Byndom are repeat first-team selections from a year ago. Stuart was on the league's second team last season.
On the offensive side of the ball, IC was represented by lineman
Kyle Russell and wide receiver
Kyle Leonard. The Blueboys also had a pair of special teams standouts earn first-team accolades in
Timo Kato and
Zechariah Wease.
IC was represented on the second team by four individuals. Offensively, lineman
Blake Buckles, running back
Lleyton Miller, and quarterback
Tyson Elliott were all selected. Punter
Zack Banovz was also honored among the specialists.
The Blueboys finished the regular season with an 8-2 overall record, including a 7-2 slate in conference play, which tied for second place. IC will face Aurora in the SmileyCookie.com Lakefront Bowl on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Wauwatosa, Wis.
