Illinois College Rolls Past Westminster in Dominant Home Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's basketball team put on a show in their home opener Friday night, cruising to a 90–60 victory over Westminster to secure their first win of the 2025–26 season.

With the win, Illinois College improves to 1–2 on the season and opens their home slate in impressive fashion. 

The Lady Blues set the tone early, shooting 50 percent in the opening quarter and knocking down four threes to build a 26–14 lead. That momentum continued into the second half, where Illinois College erupted for 30 third-quarter points to put the game out of reach.

Jayln Patterson powered the offense with an efficient 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting while pulling down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Danielle Beach added 15 points, seven boards, and a steal, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc. Kallie Oestreicher provided another spark with 12 points, including three made threes of her own.

Cora DeSutter and Kylie Rakers each delivered key scoring stretches, combining for 16 points, while Raegen Stringer paced the offense with a game-high nine assists. The Lady Blues showcased their depth with 32 bench points and nine different players scoring at least five.

Illinois College controlled the interior all night, finishing with a 56–48 rebounding advantage and scoring 30 points in the paint. Defensively, the Lady Blues forced 22 turnovers and held Westminster to just 28.6 percent shooting from the floor.

The Lady Blues are back in action tomorrow afternoon for the final game of the IC Invitational as they take on Greenville University at 3:00pm back in Sherman Gymnasium.
