JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Esports Overwatch team came up just short in a thrilling five-map series against Buena Vista University in NECC competition, falling 2–3.
IC opened the match with a decisive 2–0 win on Samoa before Buena Vista evened things on Eichenwalde with a 3–1 result. IC regained the lead on Rialto, holding strong for a 1–0 victory, but BVU answered back on New Queen Street in a narrow 1–0 finish to force a deciding fifth map. On Lijiang Tower, Buena Vista closed out the series with a 2–0 win.
Despite the loss, the match showcased Illinois College's resilience and ability to push the series to the distance against a tough opponent.
The roster for Illinois College included Adam Byrd, Dwight Duijneveld, Meryn Davis, Bunni Little, and Alex Rhoades.
