JACKSONVILLE, Ill.– The Illinois College Valorant team secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Morningside in Midwest Esports Conference play on Monday night. The win keeps Illinois College in strong postseason position, virtually locking in the No. 3 seed heading into the MVEC Playoffs.
Illinois College started fast with a dominant 13–6 win on Bind, capitalizing on coordinated executes and strong site retakes. After a narrow 10–13 loss on Pearl, the team regrouped for the decider on Haven, closing out the match 13–9 thanks to disciplined team play and clutch late-round performances.
Dwight Duijneveld turned in a historic showing, breaking his own program record with 75 kills in a single series. His previous record of 70 kills, set in 2024 against Glenville State, now ranks second all-time. Duijneveld also posted a 2.24 KDA, 16 first bloods, and an impressive 468 ACS to lead the way.
Fray Moulton added 58 kills and 16 assists (1.90 KDA), while Jonest Eisfelder contributed 46 kills and several key multikills on Haven. Carter Naeve and Ekko "Sekkond" Nguyen anchored the support line with a combined 20 plants and four defuses to secure the match.
With this victory, Illinois College strengthens its hold on third place in the MVEC standings and moves one step closer to a top playoff seed.
