Esports Splits in Valorant and Smash Tuesday Night

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Esports program was back in action on Sept. 30 with matchups in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Valorant. The Blueboys fell to Rockford University in Smash but bounced back with a 2–0 sweep over St. Ambrose in Valorant.

In Smash Bros., Illinois College dropped the series 0–2 with Rockford taking Game 1 by a score of 4–0 and Game 2 by a score of 3–0.

Jake Petrovich led IC with four KOs, while Julian Luaders recorded a team-high 13 KOs and produced a comeback highlight stock against Dr. Mario.

In Valorant, the Blueboys came out strong, defeating St. Ambrose 13–5 on Lotus before pulling out a dramatic 15–13 win on Bind in overtime to seal the 2–0 sweep.

Dwight Duijneveld turned in a career-best performance with 61 kills, 15 first bloods, and a 2.88 K/D. Fray Moulton added seven first bloods while Jonest Eisfelder chipped in 39 kills and several clutch rounds.
