JACKSONVILLE, Ill- The Illinois College women's basketball team opened the new year off with a dominant conference win over Monmouth College, 75-50. This win moves the Lady Blues to 4-8 (1-2) and drops the Scots to 4-9 (1-3) for the season.

The Lady Blues delivered an impressive performance at home, shooting 45.7% from the field to secure a major conference victory. IC excelled on both ends of the court, limiting the Scots to just 25% shooting and winning the rebound battle 47-41.
The Lady Blues dominated inside, scoring 38 points in the paint and capitalizing on turnovers with 22 points. They trailed for only 1:53 of the game and maintained control throughout all four quarters.
Ashlyn Wightman led the way for IC with a stellar double-double, achieving a career-high 26 points and pulling down 11 rebounds while shooting 12-19 from the field.
Jayln Patterson contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, while
Anna McKee joined the double-digit club with 10 points, including two three-pointers.

Ashlyn Wightman now has 964 career points and is 36 points away from achieving the 1,000-career point milestone at IC.
