Milliken Stops Lady Blues

DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin used big innings on offense to post a 3-0 and 9-1 non-conference doubleheader sweep over Illinois College on Friday at Workman Field.

IC fell to 5-14 on the season while Millikin improved to 12-8.

Game 1 (Millikin 3 IC 0)
The game was a pitching duel between IC's Julia Drake and Millikin's Charly Warlow for the first five innings as each held the opposition scoreless. The Big Blue broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to seal the victory.

Cheyenne Anderson, Emma Hardiek, and Taylor Henry all had hits for the Lady Blues. Drake suffered the loss, despite allowing just five hits and three runs (one earned) in her six innings of work.

Game 2 (Millikin 9 IC 1)
The Big Blue scored the first four runs of the game with a solo tally in the second and three more in the third before IC got on the board with a run in their half of the fourth. The Lady Blues scored when Allison Mortland reached on a Millikin error which scored Claudia Adam. Millikin scored four more times in the fourth and added one in the fifth to finish off the scoring for the day.

Kayla Serpa, Calynn Gicante, and Jaycie Edwards all recorded hits for IC. In the circle, Henry pitched the first three innings, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned). Hannah Crouch finished the final two frames, allowing seven hits and five runs (three earned).
