SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In a game of runs, Trinity used a late spurt to slip past Illinois College, 72-69, during the first day of the Leslie Robinson Holiday Classic at the Bell Center on Friday afternoon.
IC is now 6-4 overall while Trinity improved to 6-1.

The Tigers opened the first half by running out to a 16-point lead at 21-5 with 12:56 to go in the opening half before the Blueboys clawed back into the contest, getting within 35-33 with just 50 seconds remaining before Trinity took a 39-33 lead into intermission.
Trinity's lead grew to as much as nine points (49-40) with 13:51 left in the game before IC came roaring back with a 13-4 run to tie the game at 53 with 9:36 left. The Blueboys held Trinity without a field goal for over seven minutes and pushed their advantage to 10 (65-55) with just over four minutes remaining. The Tigers then went on a 10-0 run of their own to tie the game at 65.
IC led 66-67 with 1:46 to go before Trinity used a 5-2 run in the final minute to close out the victory.
Buzz Ritzel, who scored the 1,000th point of his career in the game, led IC with 20 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Marcus Coleman tossed in a career-high 13 points while
Seth Doss added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Austin Robinson led the Blueboys with eight rebounds while scoring nine points.
Nathan Bobikiewicz came off the bench to hit three, 3pt. field goals and had nine points.

Ritzel joined the 1,000-point club at IC today and now has 1,017 career points, he is the 31st player in IC history to reach that milestone…
Josh Harris sits at 968 in his quest to join Ritzel in the 1,000 point club… this was the second game of the season for IC against a ranked opponent. The Blueboys topped then-14th-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan, 66-57, on November 16h in Jacksonville… The Blueboys have won 38 of their last 47 games (38-9) and 55 of the past 64 (55-9). IC is also 21-3 in its last 24 non-conference games.
