MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois College football dropped a Midwest Conference contest, 44-24, to Monmouth on Saturday at April Zorn Memorial Stadium.
The loss dropped IC to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play while the Fighting Scots improved to 3-1 and 3-0.

The Fighting Scots opened the scoring seven minutes into the first quarter. IC then answered to tie the game at 7 on a one-yard run by
Destin Chance which closed out the first quarter scoring. That was as close as the Blueboys would be for the rest of the day.
Monmouth reeled off three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 27-7 lead before
Toby McTamney drilled a 32-yard field goal to make it 27-10 at halftime.
The Fighting Scots increased their lead to 37-10 in the third quarter before IC got back on the board early in the final period when Chance rambled in from 16 yards out.
After another Monmouth score, the Blueboys scored the final points of the day when Chance found
Will Campbell from six yards out. McTamney was perfect on all three of his PATs on the day.
Chance led the Blueboy attack, going 33-59 for 356 yards and a touchdown. He also was IC's leading rusher, toting the ball 16 times for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Trey Birdsong led the receiving corps, grabbing 13 passes for 130 yards. Campbell added 10 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Collin Brunstein had five catches for 86 yards.
The defense was led by
Cam Dailey and
Drake Stuart who each had 10 tackles. Dailey added a tackle for loss as well.
Keane Shaw and
Cory Walbert collected six stops apiece to aid the Blueboy defensive effort.
Blue Notes
Today's game concluded a stretch that saw IC play seven of its last nine games away from England Stadium… The Blueboys will play four of their final six games at home... Chance has 50 career TD passes and needs eight to move into a tie for 5th place with his brother Drew on IC's all-time list… Brunstein, already IC's all-time leader in receiving yards, increased his total to 3,940 today.
