E-Sports Secures Victory in the Opening Round of the MEC (UCL) SSBU Playoffs

JACKSONVILLE, Ill- The Illinois College E-Sports team opened up their MEC (UCL) SSBU Playoffs with a big win over Campbellsville University on Tuesday, 1-0. As with the other tournaments, this one follows a double-elimination format, making an opening win crucial for the rest of the playoffs.

Match Results: Illinois College 1 Campbellsville University 0

The order of the match was Matthew Hallanger, Daniel Scott, Theodore Biela, Jake Petrovich, and Julian Luaders. After the first two matches, IC was down five stocks, but Biela, Petrovich, and Luaders fought back to recover the match back in favor of Illinois College. The match got down to three stocks versus three stocks, so it was left to Julian Luaders for IC. Luaders faced off against a player named Barcode, and using his signature character Mewtwo, he secured a win for IC, advancing the team to the next playoff round.
