LAKE FOREST, Ill. –
Kendra Bass' big day pushed Illinois College past Lake Forest, 65-52, in a Midwest Conference women's basketball game on Sunday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
The win improved IC to 9-8 overall and an even 4-4 in the league. The Foresters dropped to 2-13 and 1-6.
Bass had a game-high 24 points, including a 12-for-14 performance from the free throw line, along with a game-high eight steals and five rebounds.
Jayln Patterson contributed 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Lady Blues.
Sarra Faust dished out five assists for the victors as well.
IC took control of this one early, using a 12-2 run late in the first quarter to post a 19-9 advantage after one period. The second quarter saw the Lady Blues increase their lead to as much as 17 at 42-25 with 1:17 remaining before heading to halftime up 42-27.
Lake Forest chipped away at the lead in the third period, getting within eight at 46-38. The Foresters continued to cut into the IC lead in the final frame, getting within 58-51 with 2:11 left. IC was able to put the game away from the free throw line in the late stages and snap a brief two-game losing streak.
The Lady Blues will conclude this two-game conference road swing by traveling to Beloit on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
