RIPON, Wis. - The IC men's soccer team opened Midwest Conference play with a visit to Ripon College Saturday afternoon. The Blueboys defeated the Redhawks by the final score of 2-1. IC improves to 6-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the MWC this season. Â
Both teams played well and went back-and forth during the first half. Each team had scoring opportunities but the score remained scoreless at the end of the first half. The Blueboys outshot Ripon 9-6.Â
In the 52nd minute, Ripon added the first goal of the match on a goal from Jacob Oppeneer. Five minutes later, IC's
Tyler Schiltz answered with a goal that tied the match at 1-1. Just under two minutes later, IC's
Tyler Lunning gave the Blueboys the 2-1 lead with a goal that was assisted by
Reed Rogers.Â
For the match, IC outshot Ripon 18-13 as nine shots were on goals. Schiltz led IC with four shots while
Jason Hernandez and Lunning added three shots each.Â
Owen Macias represented IC in goal with two saves.Â
The Blueboys will host Elmhurst College on Tuesday, September 26 at 4:30 PM in England Stadium.Â
