JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College athletic department is excited to welcome Kyle Jones to the staff as the assistant sports information director.
Jones comes to Illinois College after serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Missouri S&T since 2022. There he assisted the sports information director in maintaining statistical information, historical data, and providing media coverage for all 17 of the department's varsity sports programs. Before that, he was the assistant athletic media and communications director at Lyon College.
"I want to thank the athletic department and the entire search committee for providing this opportunity to be back at my alma mater. There are not enough words to express what Illinois College, the IC athletic department, and the Jacksonville community mean to me. I look forward to meeting and working with all coaches, promoting the 24 varsity sports and its student-athletes" said Jones.
Jones is an alum of Illinois College and graduated with his bachelor of arts in business administration with an emphasis in sports management in 2019. During his undergraduate studies he was a member of the Blueboys baseball team and worked in the sports information office as a student assistant. After graduating from IC, Jones attended Grand Canyon University where obtained an MBA in Sports Business in 2020.
"We are excited to welcome Kyle to the team. As an alum of Illinois College, he is familiar with the area and the traditions of our athletic department. Adding an experienced sports information professional like Kyle to our department just increases the quality of the media coverage we are able to provide to our teams and student-athletes," said Sports Information Director James Vinson.
Jones will assist the sports information office in the daily media coverage of Illinois College's 24 varsity sports programs.
