WHEATON, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys traveled to Wheaton College for the first round of the NCAA Divison III Men's Basketball Tournament on Friday night. The Blueboys suffered a loss to the Thunder with a final score of 66-79.
IC was led by
Benton Singleton recording 18 points and eight rebounds in the contest.
Tre Rogers finished the game with a double-double recording 10 points and leading the team with 11 rebounds. Other double-figure scorers included
Josh Harris with 15 points and
Buzz Ritzel with 11 points.
Wheaton was able to take control of the lead early in the game. The Thunder built a lead as large as 18 points in the first half. IC was able to cut the deficit to eight points after a made layup by
Jake Mazrimas to make the score 58-66 with 6:10 left in the second half. The Thunder were able to hold off the Blueboys comeback and claim the win to advance to the second round of the tournament.
On top of countless milestones, the Blueboys end the season with the best record in the history of the program at 25-3.
