CHICAGO – Illinois College used a dominant fourth quarter performance to post its third straight win with a 58-38 victory over the Illinois Institute of Technology in a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday at the Keating Sports Center.
The win moved the Lady Blues back over .500 at 6-5 while the Scarlet Hawks dropped to 2-7.
Ashlyn Wightman posted a double-double and led a trio of Lady Blues in double figures with 17 points. She also corralled a game-high 13 rebounds.
Jayln Patterson added 14 points for IC while
Gracie Kizer came off the bench to add 11.
IC had three players with double figure rebound totals. Along with Wightman,
Maya Smith
grabbed 13 and
Kendra Bass had 10. The Lady Blues out rebounded IIT 48-34 on the day.
The contest was tight throughout the first three quarters. IIT held a 28-27 lead at halftime and the Lady Blues enjoyed a 42-37 advantage after three quarters, but IC put the game away with a 17-1 run in the final quarter to post the victory.
The Lady Blues return home Sherman Gymnasium for a Tuesday matinee against Aurora. Tip time is set for 1:00 p.m.
