IC Swim Teams Finish Action At Monmouth Invite

MONMOUTH, Ill. - The IC swim teams traveled to Monmouth College and participated in the Monmouth College Invitational. Grinnell College, IC, and Monmouth were the only teams that competed in the meet. 

The meet started off with the men's 200-yard medley relay where Nathen Trachta, Cooper Meyer, first-year Eli Eberle, and first-year Tristan Pottebaum finished in fifth place with a time of 1:46.00. The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Jenna Kenning, first-year Julia Edwards, first-year Emma Dunsworth, and Jena Sellers finished the event with a time of 2:05.94 which earned a sixth-place finish. 

In the women's 200-yard freestyle event, IC had four competitors in the event that included Cassie Reeve, Abigail Glaser, Delaney Goodard, and Madelynn DePover where all student-athlete recorded finishing times under 2:30.

In the men's 50-yard freestyle event, IC had five student-athletes compete in the event where Eberle was the first Blueboy to finish with a time of 23.29. He was followed by Meyer and Pottebaum with times of 24.30 and 25.40 respectively. Steven Doss and Matthew Billenstein also competed in the event and recorded finishing times of 28.01 and 44.85.  

In the women's 50-yard freestyle, Sellers finished the event with a time of 27.54 which was good for sixth place. She was closely followed by dual-sport athlete in Lauren Sinclair with a time of 29.94. 

In the men's 100-yard butterfly event, Trachta finished with a fourth-place spot with a time of 56.53 which was .27 seconds behind the winner of the event. Dunsworth competed in the event for the women's team and finished in third place with a time of 1:09.02.

In the 500-yard freestyle race, IC's James Hammond finished in third place with a time of 5:41.70 while Glaser competed for the women's team and also finished in thrid place with a time of 5:59.24.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Trachta and Jenna Kenning each competed for IC as Trachta finished in fourth with a time of 56.90 while Kenning recorded a time of 1:06.93.

Both teams will travel to Beloit College on Friday, December 1 to participate in a two-day meet in Beloit, Wisconsin.
