CHICAGO, Ill. - The IC football team returned to MWC play visiting University of Chicago Saturday afternoon. The Blueboys earned a huge victory over the Maroons by the final score of 41-20. IC now stands at 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the MWC.
The dynamic duo of
Destin Chance and
Collin Brunstein led the IC offense with spectacular individual performances. Chance led IC in passing and rushing yards as he totaled 399 passing yards while rushing for 75 yards on 10 carries. Chance finished the MWC matchup with three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Brunstein had a career-high game with 301 receiving yards with three receiving touchdowns. Defensively,
Charlie Patterson led IC with 13 total tackles that included two sacks for 16 yards. The Blueboys had two key interceptions that helped lift IC to victory.
On the second IC drive of the game, Chance connected with Brunstein on an 85-yard catch and run to go up 6-0. After the
Toby McTamney extra point, IC took the early 7-0 lead. On the ensuing Maroon drive, IC's
Cory Walbert intercepted the pass from Jack Ruff that gave the Blueboys great field position near midfield. IC was unable to capitalize as the Maroons held a good defensive stand. The Maroons tied the game at 7-7 on a 16-yard touchdown from Diego Solis as that was the score after the first quarter.
In the opening minute of the second quarter, the Maroons took the 10-7 lead on a 41-yard field goal from Will Goodman. On the next IC drive, Chance found Brunstein deep down the left sideline for an 87-yard touchdown to go up 14-10. University of Chicago responded quickly with a 52-yard rushing touchdown from Rhys Bommarito-Logan to go up 17-14. The Maroons went up a score at 20-14 on a 42-yard field goal from Goodman as that was the score at halftime.
On the first IC drive of the third quarter, Chance gave the Blueboys the 21-20 lead with a 31-yard rushing touchdown. Midway through the quarter, Chance connected with Brunstein for a 66-yard touchdown to go up 27-20. Late in the third, IC's
Cam Dailey intercepted the pass from Ruff at midfield. In the fourth, Chance added his second rushing touchdown of the game with a four-yard scramble that made the score 34-20. Late in the fourth quarter, IC put the game away on a five-yard rushing touchdown from

The Blueboys will host Knox College for their Homecoming game on Saturday, October 14 at 1:00 PM in England Stadium.
