JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Fontbonne University on Wednesday night. Both teams were able to score one goal to end the match in a tie with a final of 1-1. This puts the Blueboys at 2-1-1 overall this season.
IC relied on strong defensive play to hold the Griffins to only two shots in the first half. Both teams would remain scoreless as the match headed to halftime. IC was able to jump ahead after a goal by
Tyler Lunning set up by an assist from
Jared Wiening and
Grant Koplinski in the 66th minute.
The Griffins would answer with a goal of their own by Ryan Schwentker in the 75th minute to force the game into a tie.
Carlos Garcia was exceptional in goal for the Blueboys totaling five saves on the night.
The team will host Blackburn College on Friday, 9/9 at 7:00 PM.
