DECATUR, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues faced Alma College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Softball Regional this Friday. The team earned the win over Alma with a final score of 4-0 giving IC their first ever NCAA Tournament win in program history.
Both teams were scoreless heading into the top of the sixth inning. A hard-hit ball down the left field line by
Grace Frost would stay fair heading over the fence for a three-run homer to give the Lady Blues the first score of the game. Frost would later single in the top of the seventh to bring in a run by
Madisyn Webster to seal the victory.
Frost finished the day going three for four at the plate with four runs batted in along with the game winning home run.
Sydney Hood earned the shutout win in the circle pitching all 7.0 innings with five strikeouts while only allowing three hits. This is the Lady Blues seventh shutout victory this season.
IC will look ahead to face the winner of Ohio Northern and
Millikin University tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
